Community Guidelines

We don’t moderate myHarwell.com content before it is posted, because we trust everyone in the Harwell Oxford community to act responsibly. Please follow these simple guidelines to help make this extranet a useful tool for everyone.

 1) Get involved

This extranet is for you, as members of the Harwell Oxford community. Post your content, comment on others’ posts and get involved – the more you do, the more you will get out of your experience.

 2) Respect others’ views

There are a huge variety of people in our community, and they may not always share your views. Please respect that: a healthy dialogue is encouraged, personal attacks are not.

 3) Promote your business appropriately

Use your organisational profile to highlight your business, product or service. Please do not post adverts as news items or in other places on the site. There are plenty of ways to raise your profile, and hence that of your organisation, by posting helpful comments, useful information or events and genuine news items.

 4) Choose the right categories and tags

myHarwell.com is designed to hold a lot of user-generated content. Be careful about the categories you choose and the tags you use to help people find that information quickly and easily.

 5) Be careful with copyright and confidentiality

Make sure you respect others’ copyright, attribute your sources, and check with your organisation before posting ideas which may be patentable or commercially sensitive; information posted here is shared without confidentiality agreements.

 6) Avoid inappropriate content

Illegal, abusive or offensive material is not appropriate for this site. If you spot any inappropriate content, please contact us to let us know: we will remove inappropriate content and block users if necessary.

 7) Be clear about your hats

In general, users are representing themselves, not their organisations; official views are expressed on organisational profiles. If you are an official spokesperson for a company, organisation, department or club or you are quoting an accepted spokesperson, please make this clear in your post.

 8) Respect personal data

Users may share their contact details via their profile. This information should only be used for personal and relevant messages directly to the person concerned. Any mass mailing or unsolicited spam will result in your account being discontinued.

 9) Talk to us

Visit our ‘MyHarwell launch’ project to  report bugs or  make suggestions about how to improve the extranet. We want to hear from you!

If you need any help with the extranet, read or comment on our help pages to get your questions answered.
